You Might Want To Try This Yourself

I was doing some testing with my Gold Bug Pro using the 5 inch DD coil. When I ran the coil over a clad dime I got a 82-83 ID reading. I then ran the coil over a beer bottle pry cap and got the same reading. I started experimenting around to see if there was an easy way to distinguish between the two. Well, I think found a way. Once you're centered over the target getting the strongest reading, jerk the coil straight up about 3 or 4 inches. The dime will keep its ID number with repeated jerks, but the pry cap ID numbers will vary from the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's with each jerk.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing the tip. Does it also work with the items buried?

I have a broken right arm, so I have just been testing on the driveway. I see no reason why it shouldn't work on buried targets.

Someone with two good arms go ahead and give it try on buried targets.

I can't wait to try this out m myself. Do you "jerk" the coin straight up?

Thanks buddy

Yes! Its the "coil hop"! gently but briskly tap that coil on top of a buried signal, like jigging for bluegills through the ice, or a drummer, or a blindman tapping with a cane......a bottlecap will wash out, a coin will stay nice and tight..I also use this to pinpoint, tapping and rotating 90 degrees, you will never use your PP button again.......its killer hunting in the trash...work that coil vertically instead of horizontally and the trash washes out...
Mud.

Thank you mudpuppy! I'm definitely going to try that this weekend, ESPECIALLY for the pin pointing trick/suggestions!
