...you spend 5 hours detecting in snow and frozen ground for 3 zince, 2 memorials, a Matchbox dumptruck, and a silver spoon.

I'm sure everyone has plenty of examples. Let's hear some of them!

Been there! LOL.

I once waited a long, long time to get permission at one particular old church I'd had my eyes on, back when I lived in the NC mountains. When I finally got the green light, the weather had taken a turn for the worse and wind and snow were creating blizzardlike conditions. I went anyway. Had to keep my car running and dash back to it every 15 minutes or so to thaw my frozen fingers, but since the ground had not fully frozen, I was able to dig. I mananged to hit a "four penny" hole that included three early Wheaties and an 1899 Indian cent, that day.

I wasn't out there five hours, though. You really ARE a diehard!

Good for you. You're nuts, of course, like so many of the rest of us, but it'll pay off for you in the long run. ;)

That's what I was thinking westerday when I was trying to thaw out my froozen fingers. I TOLD MYSELF I WASN"T GOING TO DO THAT.

But did I listen to self?.............NOOooowe:blink:

HH,

I went out for about 3 hours with my buddy detecting around a school grounds. The temp. was 30 degrees and very windy... felt about 15 degrees.
We were bound and determined to hunt for a while somewhere.
I think we got it bad too!!

I'd rather go out in the cold weather than in the summertimes here in GA, when it's 90-some degrees with 90-some percent humidity, and a heat index of 110 or so.

Besides, the bugs and snakes and other boogers tend to be less agressive in the cold!

That's when my new (used) Explorer SE arrives.

Guarantee you I'll be out somewhere tomorrow night. :jump:

You're a night hunter, too, huh?

I do that, here in the summertimes when days get too hot.

You can tell the serious detectorists because they don't let a little snow or darkness or other things like that get in their way.

I used to have a buddy who wouldn't go out detecting unless his friends were going. He was what you might call a "social detectorist".

Obviously, HE didn't have the disease.

We had a small snow fall here in bama the other day. I happened to be off from work that day. I had already planned to go detecting that day before hand So what do I do? Grab my machine drive 30 miles south to an old church and start swinging in 25 degree weather and snow on the ground which we dont see alot of. Found nothing to speak of but had a great time. I was so freaking cold. I thought to myself "this is what the guys up north have to do" Gosh the ole hands sure get cold quick with snow on them lol...... Sure can't wait till spring.....

I did a hunt in the snow last Sunday. I really wanted to see how the detector did. I found like .57 in clad. The detector did fine, I was cold, Beale.
