You just never know...

I know we all say that repeatedly but it proved to be very descriptive of the experience I had yesterday. I'm suffering from a serious back injury so I haven't been able to hunt for weeks. After reading some posts on GB'ing tips and tricks with the MXT, I decided to take my machine out into the backyard and practice some of the techniques. The first surprise came when I accidently happened to swing the coil over a piece of scrap 2x10 and got a solid signal. When I moved the board I found the Canadian dime pressed flush into the ground. I know they're not of much value but I tell you after not hunting for so long I was thrilled to make even this modest find...without digging ! I figured that this was a lucky sign so I decided to do a quick hunt to see if I could find some good, shallow signals to retrieve and get my MD'ing fix. I'd never hunted my backyard with my MXT yet. My first 2 targets were nickels so I was still feeling that luck was with me. After my 3rd target turned out to be a quarter I figured my luck was probably just about spent and so was my back so I was just about to pack it in when I got a rock solid, repeating VDI of 90 at 1-2" that pinpointed like a coin. I decided to dig ONE more. As you can see in the center picture, out came my largest silver ring to date, a heavy, .925 stamped band. Re-energized, I hunted for 20 more mins. ( 45 total ) and rescued 2 more quarters, 2 more nickels, 1 dime and a penny. Recuperation will be a little easier today. Hope you enjoy and please keep posting your finds. It's the only thing that gets me through being injured and unable to hunt. Thanks.

You had more success in 45 minutes than I have had in some weekends!!!!

That's fantastic Scott. Way to go. Please take care of yourself so you can get out and hunt some more. HH, Nancy

Sorry to hear about your back, but looks like you had a great day with the MXT...

You did good and didn't even have to leave home. The not knowing is part of the appeal for me.

Nice ring find, I found one just like it yesterday. I have a bad back too but the best therapy so far has been metal detecting, all the squating and bending is good exersise for my back as long as I go slow, good luck with yours.

Thanks everyone. I like your prescription nailbender but I'm afraid I can't follow it for awhile. Good luck to everybody. Post your finds please !
