You Gotta See This One!

Diane and I went out to a little park that at one time had an old house on it and we had a very good day. This is the second time we have been there, the first time I found a couple of wheaties, a spoon handle and part of a pocket watch case. I was hoping for better this time and man oh man it happened. The first target I dug was a clad dime and the next turned out to be my first silver since Groundhog

Congrats on breaking your silver slump. I was in the same type of slump and it was a 1929 merc that got me out of it as well. Tell your wife congrats as well on the 1805 LC. Beautiful coin. Do you have any idea as to it's value?

Well condition with corrosion and rim dings greatly diminish the value but a VF sold last year at auction for $1,600! So realistically not great value but still a great coin to find. A R-3 rarity signifies that there are between 201-500 know examples.

A HUGE Congratulations to Diane and also to you Tony! Thanks for the video and the pictures. Diane! Don't hide your pretty face and smile behind your coin. You can't find a RARE enough coin to make me not want to see your smile!!!

Again, a HUGE Congratulations to you both.

Wow, tell her great job from me. I love those Large Cents. Your silver was a nice touch too. Thanks for posting. I hope I can get out this weekend.

I had a verification from one of the top Large Cents dealers in the country and he confirmed it is the rare S-268 variation of the 1805. It is a R-3 rarity which means there are approximately between 201 and 500 known examples extant. Here are a couple of pictures I think are better. This pics shows the detail in the hair much better than the previous pics. You can see on the reverse where the nail was in close proximity to the coin. I was advised to not try to remove the corrosion for in doing so it would also remove the copper. A flawed beauty but a beauty none the less!

Killer Large Cent - congrats ! :clapping:
