Kinda reminds me of an old Steely Dan song...I am forever drawn to this field...the digging is always easy, and not too many folks bug me out there...
I have hunted it to death, but am not surprised anymore that I still find interesting stuff there...It is SO big, that one person would take years to cover every square inch of it (I have been working it for the last 5 years)
So when you have a place like mine that is huge, and someone tells you it is hunted out...Go out and prove em wrong...You go low and slow, and overlap your swings tightly...You will be amazed at what pops out where you think you've already covered...
Found a 1943 Merc that came out of 4" of dirt looking about like it does now (I only rinsed it with water), and a few 1960s pennies...One wheat I cannot get a date off is pictured with the merc...It is now soaking in Hot Sauce...

The Wheat was a 1953D I think...It is really toasty, and a lot of detail flattened...

HH,

Very nice merc!

The acids in the hot sauce eat the crud off the copper, but you have to keep an eye on it...It can eat the coin too...Olive oil is the next step, then hot hydrogen peroxide...the peroxide always scares me though...afraid I am gonna blow myself up or something...lol

HH,
