GUYS, DO NOT FALL FOR ALL THIS CHEAP PRICES THEY ARE ALL CHINESE COUNTERFEITS:nono:BOUNTY HUNTER 'S NOT MAKING ANY NEW LAND,OR TIME RANGERS,MOST 0F THE COUNTERFEITS DO NOT COME IN THE LOGO COMPANY BOXES,JUST PLAIN CHEAP CARDBOARD.SOME OF THEM COME WITH NO MANUALS.:unsure:I HAVE BEEN THIS ROAD BEFORE .THE LAST PRICE I SAW FOR A RANGER WAS $369 -------------------------AND YOU CAN BUY THIS COUNTERFEITS FROM $168--------------------------$178!!!!THEY WILL LAST A FEW MONTHS AND WHAM-0 YOU START GETTING PROBLEMS, CHECK WITH B.H. FOR THE SERIAL NUMBERS.:surprised:

Good, Ill let you know when mine arrives. Its suppose to be in a factory sealed box the same as you would buy in the store. Everyone knows that the Time Ranger has been discontinued for over a year and the Platinum has taken its place. That's why the prices have been dropping on them. If you would read the other post on this site you would see that 1 was just bought new at Radio Shack for 160.00

I think the safest bet would be to order from radio Shack for 169.00 and have it shipped to store so you only have to pay tax. I don't think that they would sell a knock-off. Good call jst2kool, and C.J.M for bring this to everyones attention.

Better than checking a serial number after buying a Time Ranger, call First Texas @ 1-800-413-4131 and inquire if the seller is an authorized dealer for the Time Ranger. Because if they are not, even if the unit is genuine, you will get NO WARRANTY coverage of any kind. Period!!!!

Fedex Brought my Time Ranger today!! Looks Right to me and tested great. Has the manual and 1st Texas on the inside of the battery lid.All I can say is it looks on the up and up to me. But if its a counterfeit its a good one. I'm no expert.

It is incredibily expensive to make injection molding tooling and to tool-up to make LCD screens etc., so my best guess is that they are legit. Why they are so inexpensive is anyone's guess. Maybe someone hijacked a semi trailer full of them and is unloading them on ebay. Many stolen goods are sold on ebay so, who knows?

Mark

I'm kinda thinking maybe Bounty Hunter unloaded the rest of their Time Ranger stock to outlets a good price just to be done with them and to make room. Who knows I'm just guessing. Im happt with it and thats all that matters to me.

I bought my Time Ranger from Radio Shack for $160. It was delivered by FedEx in a pain brown box with a UPS logo on it. It has the manual with it and in the battery compartment is a sticker that reads, First Texas Noverber 2011. If it is a counterfeit, I will never buy anything else from Radio Shack.

Mine was the same. The sticker says October 2011

They may still be in production....supposedly they were all sold out during the holiday of 2010. Now a whole slew of them are appearing. JST2Kool, do give the company a call to see if unit is warranted. I owned one, from Radio Shack for $157.00. Personally, I think its the best metal detector buy going. Hands down. The machine really hits copper deep. Even with the 4" coil. I think these units showing up are genuine..just my gut feeling....IMHO.

Actually I talked to a rep at first texas and I was told that the LandStars are produced in batches at certain times only. She told me the next production run would be near the end of this past January, so if she was right then we should see more landstars being offered at lower than current prices. I haven't seen that yet though.

They may be doing the same thing with the Time Ranger...I ordered a Time Ranger from Radio Shack just after Christmas.
