Yesterdays stroll on the beach

Yesterday morning I got up early and arrived at Folly Beach at about 8am to find that it was raining at the beach. By the time I was ready to hit the beach it had quit so I went for a stroll. Hit a little clad as I walked onto the beach and spent a little time digging up the clad. Worked a washout for quite a distance and found nothing. Moved to another area with the same results. At the third area I was again finding virtually nothing when as I was approaching two lovelies in their bikinis I got a low nickel tone with the Excal. I dug the target hopeful that I had made a good find. Scooped the target and had a ring in the scoop. I wiped the sand off the ring and tried to find a hallmark. My old eyes could not pick out any markings in the ring so I was a bit disappointed.

I worked my way up the beach to where they were renourishing the beach and was talking to one of the employees of the company that is doing the work. He was quite interested in detecting and what I had found. As I was showing him the ring the light hit it just right for me to see the hallmark. 10KSR. SR being the manufacturer. Only 4.4 grams but it has been rescued and will not get covered up with three feet of new sand.

I also found a sterling ear ring that is marked Tiffany @ Co. .925. Has a designers trademark in it also.

I added $3.10 in clad to my days finds and called it a day. Any day that I find gold and silver is a good day. Heck it would have been a good day just being out on the beach swinging a coil.

Good finds in the end. Congrats on the gold and silver.

That's some nice silver and gold. Good save from the burial, we have beach renourishment coming this summer.

Great adventure with a gold and silver Payback!:clapping: Good work Geo, good description of beach hunting too!

Georgein SC, Glad that you found some Gold at Folly. This is what I found Easter Sunday--I didn't find any Civil War Bullets this time-goldnugget-Charlotte,N.C.

Well told adventure, George. You may have asked the ladies to help with the hallmark, it is possible they too are gold diggers. They may have had a loop on them or just younger eyes.

George, congrats on the ring. Folly Beach is a tough one. Gets pounded hard. I was just there a couple of weeks ago with S.C. Shooter. We spent about three hours there and about three hours at Isle of Palms and other than a little clad we got skunked . We saw several other detectors out while we were there. It is about a 2 hour drive for us to get to the beach so we don't get to go as often as we would like so it is disappointing to only come home with a little clad. Of course the wife said "you could have found that staying in town and detecting the ball park".

Tell your wife that the Scenery is much better at the beach. The Ocean and all that. Of course she might forbid you ever going there again. LOL.

Yea, she knows all about the beach scenery. We met when I was stationed at Ft Walton Beach in Florida. I do miss that beach:nopity:
