Yesterday's hunt could be my last of the year it's going to get cold next week and probably freeze up. I made a trip back to the old park where I found the two Barber's last week. I would be at the park for about 5 hour's. The first two consisted of digging a few 177 to 180 number's but turned out to be screw cap's. Even though the signal's were mostly larger and loud I still dug them with the hopes of finding a half but it wasn't to be. When I was here last week all the keeper's came from along walking path's and dirt road's so I moved to a dirt road and soon got a nice 180 with a good tone. I circled it and it read in all direction's. I'm excited now and removed the plug, rescanned the hole and it's still there. I carefully removed a couple scoops of dirt and rechecked. It's still in there! I moved the dirt in the bottom of the hole with my figer's and there it is. I knew it was a quarter but what kind. I stared at it for a bit thru the dirt,it almost looked foreign. It dawned on me that I was looking at the nicest Standing Liberty quarter I have ever found. A beautiful 1927 in great shape she was a tad over 7" deep about 2 feet from the road. The next 3 hour's were pretty dull, all I managed was a 1949-D wheat but if this is my last hunt it's a good way to end the year.
