Yesterdays Irish Hunt

Luck of the Irish was with me yesterday . Went to a new spot a farm yard at a farm still lived in but old back early 1900's or older . Found some trash as usual and five coins all good ones . First got a 1845 chopped up large cent thought maybe it was a half cent but pretty sure its a one cent, you can just barely see the 45 on the front edge . Then found 4 Indian head cents a 1897, 1904, 1906 and a 1907 . I found these using my whites M6 as I have sold my MXT ,may get a MXT pro one of these days .

Nice coins!

Very nice finds Harold. I know the large cent is a very cool find, but I sure love those Indians. For a "cent" coin, those are my favorites. Nickels will always have my heart though. Super finds and I hope you get to go back again and hunt the old farm. HH, Nancy

Finding any old coins can be satisfying. Too bad the large cent was messed up, but still a fun find.

The Indian Heads are, for me, always rewarding finds. While I especially like to find silver coins, hitting on any oldie, especially 4 Indian Head cents at one location, sure can get me more enthused about the silver coin potential.

I've enjoyed every M6 and MXT I have owned, and just sold my oldest son a choice M6 about 4 weeks ago. Now we just need to get him a 5.3 Eclipse coil and he'll be even more comfortable with it and have better success. Which coil were you using?

I hope you can get back to that old farm and find some more great stuff!

Thanks everyone I had a good day for sure .

Monte I was using the SEF 8x6 coil It worked great but it was a big yard and only a few area's where the trash was close together I could of got by ok using the D2 10 inch but I will use it next time I go now that I know how the yard is for trash and such .

Great work Harold although I think you may have had a bit - o Irish luck with you. The "Bearharold" clan . ..sounds right at home on the Emerald Isle.

Harold,

Way to go on the oldies. Those Indian's are in great shape. I would love to have a hunt like that. EZ

You are exactly right it was a lot of Irish luck . Went back to the same yard today and hunted for a 1 3/4 and never found anything but small junk bullets and broken kids tot toys and a John Deere wheat drill toy not broke but no old coins today. Was a nice day but my legs got to bothering me so gave up after a hour and half . Will go back and try some more later there's a lot of open yard I haven't hit yet . I did finally find one 1977 clad quarter first clad in two hunts from that yard .
