Yesterdays Finds

Went to one of the local schools yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours. It has a large grassed playground which on some old maps is originally shown as building lots. Some of them must have been built on as there's a fair bit of broken brick, glass and crockery under the surface. Just as I was about to leave the Police turned up. Apparently one of the neighbours had contacted them. Seeing I had previously been granted permission by the Principal I didn't have any problems. Showed them the coins I'd found and away they went. Oldest coin was an 1863 English penny then two sixpences, 1921 (badly burnt)and 1955, a 1912 halfpenny, 1951 penny and a couple of $2 and $1 and the usual one and two cent pieces. Anyway, there's a few days left there yet and I've got another couple of schools lined up.

Well Done Ken!
What excellent finds! Fancy the locals calling the police, as if they've got nothing better to do. Had a few at the beach just this week ask me what I'm doing, and when I show them my pouch full of pull tabs, foil and crown caps, and tell them I'm doing a public service, they usually walk away laughing, but most people are interested, and seem to think detecting is a nice way to pass the time away.:):detecting::minelab:

Not real sure but looks like some keepers. Good luck at your new sites.
