Yesterdays 10/17 hunt brings me another beautiful old copper :detecting:

Well, after the 16Th's hunt and finding the Flying Eagle I had little doubt it would not be such an extraordinary day.
I did head back to the same old place knowing there are still coins lurking around.
As I mentioned in my earlier posts it has been a decade hunting here and I think it will take possibly another five years to feel confident all the goodies have just about been dug.
I did go after just about anything and everything as knowing these darn shotgun caps hit in so many places I just do not want to second guess what could be below.

The only coin I dug yesterday was an 91 Indian Head but, as usual from here it is in superb condition with a very dark patina.
I have always attributed the great coins from this place to the fact it probably saw very little fertilization and the likes.

Here is my one coin from yesterday. A photo of the coin as dug, one of it splashed with water in the field and finally washed off properly once home.

Here are my total digs for the day. I ended up with 3 more caps, 1 button, one odd looking button like item, a lantern wick holder, an old copper rivet and my two favorite items an Indian and the neat little ornate Buckle.
Not a bad day in my book anytime I can come home with atleast one nice keeper.

I was farther down the hill on a part of the property and here is a picture I took standing in what was a long since forgotten former outbuilding.

Once again it was a beautiful day to be out.
This is to me by far the best time to hunt as the air is crisp and there are little to no bugs attacking you.
Not to mention all the beautiful trees changing color.

Thanks for those that take the time to look and enjoy the posts.
Happy Hunting Everyone.

Mike, it really is the ideal time of year to be out and about. Bugs are gone for the most part, and it's cool enough to wear layers which you can add or remove. It's funny how the 8 months that I have afforded to me for detecting, really only results in maybe 2 of those months being tolerable.

I really like that old dark IH cent .. :)

We dig those shotgun shells also. My hope and understanding based on VDI's for the E-Trac is that gold coins can hit in those areas as well. I've had shotgun shells hit from nickel all the way up to an Indian, which on the E-Trac is from 14 to 36 Conductivity, though most will be 22 or 24. Just depends on their gauge and make!

Keep at it. You've got a tremendous spot there!
