Yesterday and Today...

Have a look, a heavy SW wind yesterday..very strong longshore rip...peeled the beach off down to the hardpack! Problem was, a guy couldnt hardly go in, and if he did, those big waves and current would take you down, couldnt scoop anyway the current was so strong, just barreling along!..sniped a few clad coins off the slope is all I got yesterday..maybe a buck and a half.....

So I go back this morning early....slumped all back in just that fast! Opportunity missed! Theres 4' of sand where there was a massive deep water cut yesterday!

Not to be deturd, :lmfao: I found a few decent target bearing cuts, and got this mess, including a 1930 wheat, a 1908 V nickel, and a tiny .7gr sterling ring...unbelievably, still NO gold! The lighter works, so thats a plus, and a comforting kind of find... a guy cant live long on this Planet without fire, so I found money and fire, which is more than most guys could hope for....I was overheated and worn out by 8am...musta walked 5 miles in those damned heavy leaky waders again! This Sport has got to be good for a fellow I hope.....

Nice finds Mud! :clapping:

Even with your V nickel living underwater for ~80-100 years, it still looks better than most we are able to pull around here! You sure do rack up the quarters! Congrats on the "stadium hunt" yesterday too

The Liberty Head nickel, sometimes referred to as the V nickel because of its reverse (or tails) design, is an American five-cent piece. It was struck for circulation from 1883 until 1912, with at least five pieces being surreptitiously struck dated 1913. The obverse features a left-facing image of the goddess of Liberty.

The original copper–nickel five-cent piece, the Shield nickel, had longstanding production problems, and in the early 1880s, the United States Mint was looking to replace it. Mint Chief Engraver Charles Barber was instructed to prepare designs for proposed one-, three-, and five-cent pieces, which were to bear similar designs. Only the new five-cent piece was approved, and went into production in 1883. For almost thirty years large quantities of coin of this design were produced to meet commercial demand, especially as coin-operated machines became increasingly popular.

Beginning in 1911, the Mint began work to replace the Liberty head design, and a new design, which became known as the Buffalo nickel, went into production in February 1913. Although no 1913 Liberty head nickels were officially struck, five are known to exist. While it is uncertain how these pieces originated, they have come to be among the most expensive coins in the world, with one selling in 2010 for $3,737,500.

Glad you know how to work this area safely, Mud and nice collection of finds. I went to the river Tuesday and stayed almost 3 hours in my wetsuit and found 27 cents. The quarter was 1965 and oxidized red, but being close is no cigar. Either the boats are digging big holes coming into the shallow water of the PI guys are back. 3 large holes and I stepped in one and gashed my leg on my scoop and it didn't do my wetsuit any good. I sure enjoyed myself, but this area is about hunted out. Took forever to recover the quarter in neck deep water and my pin pointing really has gone to the dogs.
Hope to try the resort again in about 2 weeks. There is a large clearing where people unloaded from the train and walked to the pool and I think I will give that a try. GL & HH, Mud. Stay safe. Hope all of y'all had a great Memorial Day. I cooked Sunday and Monday and we had plenty of ribs and all the veggies and my church member and his wife gave Mama some fresh dug potatoes and they made the best cream potatoes I ever fixed except for one small detail. I got so busy cooking, I forgot to salt them. Our church is having our 5th Sunday meal and after this, I hope I don't have to cook anymore large meals for awhile.

Nice going Mud. At least it looks cooler there than it does here in the South. That V nickel sure does looks good and finding some silver is always good.

My feet are too tender to go barefoot. When I was a kid we walked on hot pavement with our bare feet and rode our bicycle barefooted, but occasionally we tore a toe nail off doing this. Young and tough, old and tender. Life's a merry go round....

Congrats Mud you are very persistent, nice finds! :clapping:
I hope to tell you something good on Monday, I have a promising weekend hunting

wow Mud it seems as if you have an unlimited amount of shoreline to hunt. Nice score on the V nickel and clad too! That looks like fun and easy digging compared to dirt hunting. I guess I was spoiled last week when I went to the volleyball court and was digging in the sand.
