75 degrees here yesterday, 41 and going down. Rough night. We lucked out and only got storms, high winds with gusts in the 50+ mph range, but tornados south and northwest of us. I've been checking out Discovery Electronics latest detector, the SST, and got in a few hours with it Sunday afternoon and yesterday. Both days were perfect for detecting, near 70 Sunday, mid 70's yesterday but the wind was high. We've had so much rain I was limited as to where I could hunt but I found a lot of newer coins and 4 wheaties. Don't guess I should talk about other brands on here but the SST is a coin finding son-of-a gun, and has awesome audio in the 10 tone mode. It's about to convince me to sell the Golden and buy one.

We have rain today which cut my morning hunt short. But I do prefer it to that white stuff.

ten tones...I'm trying to hear four on the Golden and having trouble. Never liked Tone ID on the high end units to be honest. It just seems to contaminate the audio. But hey, that's me and I'm old!

I'm also old, and have quite a bit of hearing loss. A lot more in my right ear than left one. The result of working around very loud machinery for 46 years. The damage was done when I was a young man, before we had adequate hearing protection or even knew it was needed:(. I have problems distinguishing between the two middle tones on the Golden, but the frequency range between the tones on the SST is wider than the range between the Goldens two middle tones and I can easily tell the difference between them. The 10 tones do get to be a bit too much in heavy trash, but it also has one tone and two tone modes and a 10 segment LED meter for those who like visual ID The snow forecast for here has been canceled, wish it were possible to cancel the tornado season we have in March and April every year:).

I'm sure people will be talking about it for a day or two.

So now it's that sad time to say good by to Frosty:wave:

We'll See you again some day.

It's gonna be tough, but so are we. We will survive the Winter of 2008.

Here's the aftermath of that terrible winter.

HH,

Looks like youenjoyed the White Stuff..I will send you some more...In fact could send you lots more LOL

and the two middle tones on the Golden are too close. But so far I'm finding it to be a "well behaved" detector. Now if it would stop raining I just might learn it a little better.

THAT amount of snow can be fun, Tabdog!

Worst part is people want to go out and play bumper cars.

Folks who get lots of snow deal with it much better than those who get it every so often.

...Years ago my buddy from Albert lea Minnesota tells me "We just wrap a rope around the back tire, through the spokes on the motorcycle, and go wherever we need to be." Sounds good to me, so I did it. Let out the clutch and zzip, blam! Back goes sideways and I got a 600lb motorcycle on top of my leg! California snow didn't cooperate.

that's very disconcerting!..perhaps if you tied skis to each tire you may have had better luck!..

Hey Tabdog... 6" snow is serious!

ONE thing I liked about overnight snowfall was the quiet on the next morning...
Even when I lived up in the mountains, back in the woods, there are morning sounds...
When it has snowed, all the normal noises are muffled/dampened.
It's kinda interesting.

Fun to watch the deer play in a first snow, too. They like to romp around in it...
