...for basic package! No meter or extra coils. For us who already own a GT I am in a way happy. Re-sale value is probably more now than the good resale value it already had when i bought mine used. What do you guys think a STOCK GT with no meter/etc should go for used now? $700? What about with meter, S-5 & 12x10 coils, chest mount bag, both battery packs? Curious...

I was on the line with the owner of a online store known by many of us on this forum just yesterday. The price increase doesn't start until Feb 20th, and that as long as I order before then, it's the old price.

I might as well mention the name to get those nice folks there some business. It's Detector Depot.

Lynn and Kristi are the best I have EVER done business with when it come to detectors or accessories. If they don't have it they will get it and nobody beats their deals.:clapping:

The dealer I recently bought my new Sov GT from said the price increase was effective Jan. 17, but the dealers are allowed to sell existing inventory at the old prices.

The GT was Jan 17 the price goes up while the Excalibur II is in Fab when the price goes up from what i understand, so the dealer should check his E-Mails he gets from Minelab to be sure.

Because if the price increased Minelab still wants the MAP the same price.

So let me put this out there..........

If Kell___ had 150 GT's in stock they could still sell them at the the old price?

Joe,

This reminds of the oil companies and the increased price for a barrel of oil. Oil goes up and they increase the gas prices immediately, within hours, it goes down and gasoline stays at the increased price for a week or two after the drop in oil price.

Gas at the pump goes up right away with stock market price because the store owner has to make enough money to buy his next batch of gas. Man, some of you guys must really hate business. Don't always look for an evil explanation. It's simple business.

I guess you could say, I hate greed not business. Actually I would like to have my own business one day. Neither am I for high taxes. But it's sorta like a big dog with a full belly and a full food bowl, yet he want to whip every dog's a$$ that comes near it. That's what the oil companies are doing and I suspect it's what ML is doing. Only I think it's worse with ML. Fast of the matter is one day the oil will be gone and what the companies are doing is forcing conservation with high prices. With ML it's just plain greed. I read a report where codan posted a 152% profit yet we have to keep raising prices and use foreign labor. What's that all about? How much profit is enough? I know the dollar is declining but it's the same money the other comanies are getting paid with .We got too many people warming a chair and living off someone elses labor. I'm not for high taxes but if a company imports everything it sell here or pays rock bottom wages with no benefits or uses illegals then they need a big slap in the pocketbook. They're not contributing to the economy anyway. Fact is the middle class is what fuels this economy and soon it will no longer be around. CEOs make more money then them or their family could spend in a lifetime the bitch about the taxes we all have to pay. While taking government handouts so they can recieve big bonuses and raises. No I don't hate business I hate greed and I think it's what will eventually bring the nation down.

Yes it is greed that will bring the nation down but it is not Minelab's greed.

The FED and all the banks have been making money out of nothing like crazy and so everything is going up in price. Look at your food bill lately?

Wal Mart prices have been going sky high lately according to them. The reason behind all the riots in Egypt and everywhere else is because the BANKERS have stolen all the money and are now asking everyone to pay for it. Food is now too expensive for them to eat so they are rioting. JP Morgan makes more on the federal food stamp program than any other activity. Over 40 million people on food stamps here in the USA. That money has to come from somewhere so they make it out of thin air and charging the taxpayers interest on that money plus the actual costs. Some banks are charging 59% interest on their credit cards. Greedy SOB's.

So your dollar is now worth much less than it was just a year ago. So everyone is going to have to raise prices. Get used to it. I expect Minelab machines to be priced double of what they are now within two years along with every other manufacturer out there.

But I suspect that buying a metal detector will be the least of our worries when gasoline goes to over $5 a gallon and a loaf of bread costs 10 bucks.

No I don't hate business. I have been in and around oil refineries all my adult life, made a lot of money in this business. When the price of a barrel of oil goes up, it doesn't matter if it was purchased a week before at lower price and was in a storage tank when it happened, its price still goes up. The barrel of oil is worth more, and they just made money, before it is even refined. When a barrel of oil falls in price, well guess what, the stored oil doesn't go down in price. Not until those stocks are replenished at the lower price.

I will agree that the station owner has to pass the price on to the customer, like any other business.

Whats not going up these days?, inflation here is reported at arround 2% anually(where they get those figures from i don't know cos it sure seems more to me), take the price of the sovereign gt and add 2% each year and within 7-8 years your at the new price, gas has more than doubled in the same period here.
