Yes it was muddy, but hey, it wasn't raining - 1859

I am truly addicted. Saw the muddy fields on my way home, but grabbed the G2 and headed out. Went back to a place I had hunted without much luck a couple of years ago. The place had to have four or five houses, probably a little village back in the 1860s or 70s. Waded the high ground and picked out a 1859 Indian head. It was a ball of mud, but I could tell it was something different. I knew that it was something different because of the thickness. Got it home gave it a bath and was pretty pleased. I guess the ornate piece is part of suspenders. I have collected three or four different styles of these from this site. The key looking deal we think may come from gas light valves. I have found way to many of them and they are too large for clock keys. The Indian was not surrounded by iron. I hit it in a fairly clear place and it screamed. Little coil, 100 percent gain, disc on 50. Hope I can get back out to this place before it dries up and the farmers get a chance to plant.
