About a week ago while traveling through the small town of Laporte Minnesota, I saw a large and very old looking house. I decided to leave a personal treasure hunting pamphlet in his door. He contacted me the next day and said I could hunt his property. While talking to him on the phone, he said the house was built in 1902 and he did not know of any major modifications to the land. It was a fair sized corner lot within the town and looked very promising...
Over two full days this week I hunted his yard. Several of you out there have found some very old and beautiful early to mid 1800's coins that this newer part of the U.S. will rarely give up. So I try to make up for the lack of age with quantity. I use a special hunting procedure on private properties that may take a very long time but is extremely thorough, and this time it paid off! In just those two days, I found my oldest penny, nickel, dime and quarter of this year so far!
Along with the coins shown in the picture, I found about $3 in spending change and 20 wheat pennies. The bottom 5 coins in the picture were found yesterday toward the very end of my search - all in the same hole! (I look at it as my "Grand Finale" of the property.) My 6000Di/PRO once again did it's job!
Question - I have The Official Red Book to price my U.S. coins, but I have no idea what the Canadian coins are worth. Can anyone out there give me a rough guess-timate of the ones I've found? (I could post more detailed photos...)
