This coin has been a goal of mine since I started detecting in New England with my grandfather in the late 70's...
This is THE coin to find in this area...
It took a long while....Finally, I dug a readable Massachusetts hammered Silver "tree coin"!
This is a rare 1662 Oak Tree Twopence. (either a Noe 32 or 33). Hammered by our colonists, it's a great piece of US history. It's very thin, & a bit smaller than a dime. Coinfacts.com lists 3-4 known.
I was running JE mode looking for buttons, & it popped out on a quick hunt after work.....
Though I feel like I have had very little time to hunt this year....the F75 has made it very productive
There were some doubts early on about the F75 being good at finding silver coins....I think it's doing fine
HH,
Bill
PS. Read a story about the find at this new web site Mark and I are starting....(feel free to sign up & help us get it going).
