Today, I was only working for an hour in the morning... yep ! It's a dirdy job, but someone has to do it !
Actually, it's a full day course, but my part only last an hour, so i'm off for the rest of the day untill that course has been given to all our staff.
So it was 10.00 am and i was wonderring where to go. It has been raining all week and water level has rised several inches, so the usual stinky beach was out of the question.
Not too sure has where to go, i drove to an other stinky beach on the same river to see what i could do.
I already visited that place in the past with Luke, but at the time we weren't using wadders, just regular boots. So i taugh the deeper water would provide some finds. Last time i had 3 small gold there in one hunt.
Things started very slow. Water level was high as expected, but i didn't cared, i was hunting and a few signals were poping out. I must have dug a dozen or more lead sinkers and after a while, all i had was an aluminium ring, a medal and several cents dating from the 40's to the late 60'S.
It's a real hot day today and i was sweating a lot in my neoprene wadders ! I was thirsty, hungry and a little disapointed because all i had after two hours were a few silver coins.
Then, all the sudden, i dug for what i taugh was an other sinker. Too strong signal to be interresting. I tossed the mud on my sifting island and continued for the next signal. Dug a nice signal and found out it was an other penny... but as the mud was clearing out in my basket.... out! I saw that big chunky ring! It was dark a little bit, but sure enauph, it was gold ! Yeppy, gold ring number 8...and what a nice stone ! Not a single scratch on the stone!
I continued for a few minutes, but i felt i had enauph... was walking to the exit point and dug two more signals, 40's quarter and a 1930's dime !
What a day! All that in a 3 hours hunt! I guess i'll be back there soon enauph !
