A couple weeks ago I was visiting with my neighbor in his front yard and we sat down on the block planter wall in the shade. As we talked I noticed an insect buzzing around my ankles but didn

.........taste like chicken.. Very bad chicken!
Hi Craig!!

that were around my front flower bed! I had come home from church and was looking at the side of my house and one got me on the leg....luckily I am not as allergic as your neighbor and my ex but when I mowed they would come out and see what I was doing but never stung by them then! The next year they were still there, so I put up with them but told them, If you are still here next year, I will get you (meaning getting rid of them)....now you may think I am crazy, but they weren't there the next year nor ever again! I had the ties removed as they were rotting and pulling apart and so they can't build nests there any more.

Wierd though I watered one of my large pot of flowers and wasps and yellow jackets flew out of it checked me out twice, but no stings as I stood very still until they calmed down! Thankful that I am not as allergic to them as I am to other things, as I suffer from sinus headaches because of mold and pollen allergies and breakout with itchy hives quite often and very allergic to Poison Ivy and etc.! Ma

I've read that you can invert a clear glass bowl (jug, jar, etc.) over the hole. Supposedly, because they can see daylight and have some flying room, they won't dig a new entrance and the nest will totally die out in a couple of weeks. I haven't had a chance to try it but I'd bet it will work.
