Yellow Gerber Daisy Flower...........

Kelley (Texas)

New member
These flowers were left over from a batch of flowers that Debbie bought at the grocery store for our kitchen table. The picture was taken with my Sony NEX-6 camera and my vintage Minolta MD 50mm F1.4 lens with the following settings: F8, 1/100, ISO 200, manual focus, Manual Mode. Kelley (Texas) :)

Lovely!!! I see the stems are in a tube. Is that normal to get them that way? I've never seen that before. Is there a reason why? Intriguing minds want to know. Thanks!

the plastic tubes on the stems. I removed one of the tubes and almost immediately noticed the stem starting to bend under the weight of the flower. When I tried to put the tube back on, the stem bent and the flower had to be thrown in the trash. I do not understand why the stems were so weak and had to be placed in tubes. Are the flowers this way in the garden? I am not familiar with this flower and don't know the answer. They are beautiful large flowers and looked great on the kitchen table.

Did you notice the scratch mark on the yellow flower? Our cat slapped at the flower and put that scratch on it. Kelley (Texas) :)

I did notice the lines on the flower. So, you have a cat. When will we see a picture?

I would think the stalks of the flowers would have been a lot more sturdy than that. I thought maybe that's what the tubes were for but thinking that if those were a type of zinnias, the stalks would be much hardier. I'm sorry that you had to take one off and then throw the poor little flower away. Please tell Debbie it's my fault. :surrender:

Yellow and orange are such nice colors together. Has a Thanksgiving look to it. I've seen some small plastic tubes on the ends of flowers with water in them, but I've never seen those full length sleeves like that. Nice job, Kelley.
