Well, it's been raining every few days here, so many of my old haunts are moist enough for digging. I headed off to an area near where I found some Merc's a few weeks ago. This area holds a small carnival once or twice a year, as well as other activities. I went in on a quickie recon hunt to see if there were any deeper targets here.

I walked onto the field, and tried to GB my CZ. Lots of junk in the ground, so I moved a few feet, and found a clear spot. got a sweet GB, and started searching. Immediately, I got a nice High Coin hit that indicated 5" down. I ended up recovering a Wheat, from the teens, but I'm not sure what year yet.

A few feet away, I got a similar signal, pure High Coin, no iron bounces, at an indicated 5", only this one sounded kind of odd, like it was bigger than a coin. I opened a plug, and removed all the loose dirt. Nothing. I scanned the hole with my Vibraprobe, nothing. I scooped out some more dirt, nothing. Checked again with the Vibraprobe, I got a hit at 6 o'clock. I scooped out a divot of dirt, and saw the BIG copper disk flop up. My heart started beating about 120/minute. I knew what I had. I picked it up, and saw the words "One Cent" enclosed in a wreath on it. YES! My first LC!
