Year of the nickel continues....

We're only halfway through the detecting season and I've already found more nickels than I did all of last year. The nickels keep coming at a record pace. I dug the 1894 V-nickel yesterday to hit old nickel #40 for the year and added a crusty Buffalo nickel today for #41. Also added the nice 1892 indian head cent (#23 for the year). I pulled that one no more than a couple of feet from where I dug a shallow 1892 Barber quarter a couple of years ago ! Park Pirate scored a couple nice ones including a thin1900 Barber dime not far from where I dug my $2.50 gold coin 3 years ago.

I find a lot in worked out areas where the silver and copper has pretty much been dug. Wish they came out of the ground in prettier shape. The soil where I hunt is usually kind to copper, but nickels still get rusty.
