Just keeps snowing here so I guess the season is over for me.
This was my first year detecting and my first season with the X-70.
I started off with the purchase of a Minelab X-Terra 70 in Oct. of last year. Then about half way through the season I purchased a Fisher CZ-21 so I could do some water hunting. All but one of the gold rings was found on dry land with the X-70.

TOTALS

-36 silver coins total
-9 silver quarters (oldest 1900)
-23 silver dimes (oldest 1919)
-4 silver little nickels (oldest 188:geek:
-3 large cents (oldest 1904)

-oldest US wheat cent 1911

-9 gold rings (2 are 14K)
-21 silver rings
-3 pieces of gold jewelery

CLAD
Total coins dug = 2731 for $215.11

Well that's about it for 2008. Nothing to do now but look forward to next season and a little research over the winter.

Wow I am relay impressed. You had a great year! Tell me you are retired and do this full time? Other wise I am going to feel like I am doing something wrong or detecting and all the wrong places....

Okay that me feel better, I only manage to get out about 25 hunts and a Lot of them were very short hunts after diner.:sadwalk:

Just an amazing amount of finds! Where are you located? I noticed some Canadian coins. Your ring total is very good also, excellent year, Beale.

Hi Beale, I'm located in northern Ontario, Canada. The hunting season here is about 7-8 months long. I've found the X-70 just loves gold with the right coil and ears on:)

Any valuation on the gold objects?

What ever you do don't auction them. Around here jewelery at auction gets 10-30% of appraised value. There seems to be large markups on jewelery.

you had a good year and congrats on the gold! Make a note and compare this year with next year, I have already heard a few complain about the sites not replenishing the clad around coin sites. HH, Mike

I just noticed I forgot to add the picture of all the junk rings that were found with the good ones. There was actually more than this as many were thrown out.

The big ring that looks like a gold band is a magnetic ring.

I have a few pictures taken before they went into flips. Where I live is not very old so these silvers and coppers are about as old as they get here.

Absolutely outstanding. What coil are you using?

David

I have 5 coils for the X-70 but more or less stick to 3 HF DD coils. I really like the tones I get from the HF coils and the DD configuration seems to work best in the trashy areas where I hunt. At a new site I usually start with the 10.5" MF DD coil to check the site out. Then depending on trash density and mineralization I might switch to the 6" or 5x10" HF DD coils. Where I hunt I seem to get clearer tones from the HF coils.
