Yard hunting

So I've got a Discovery 2000, which I've learned on here is a Lone Star. I've not spent alot of time with it in awhile, so I've been getting reacquainted with it out in the yard. First day, I'm working the sidewalk edge and machine say nickle, I dig a plug and there in the bottom is a nickle. Easy enough. Try some more the next day I dig a dime and a few pennies. Now everyday I go out there it's pennies, nothing but pennies. They read from the penny range into the dime, 50 cent, etc., but they've all been pennies. All total I've found 2 nickles, a dime and lost count on the pennies. Why do pennies read in the dime range sometimes? Although the dime range shows penny on it also.....

on my elite 2200 10cents an 1 cents are on the same spot. when i find a pennie there its before the zinc pennie an i don't know if a its a Pennie or dime too but the strange thing i found in that spot was a ring don't know if its copper or what.

OK heres that the owner manual says about elite 2200on dimes an pennies Dimes and pre-1982 pennies will register here Older, per-1982 pennies are composed of copper, which has a metallic signature similar to a dime i hope this answer your question.

I believe that's what I'm noticing. The older pennies I've found have indicated in the dime/penny range not the penny/zinc only.

It is probably a silver ring if it showed up in the dime/penny spot. That entire range from dime/penny up to 50 cent and 1 dollar is the silver range.
