Y'all know how I just love to count sticks of firewood...

...and needing a place to start stacking next winters wood, I decided to build a new wood shed addition onto the the end of the horse shed. With the price of fuel-oil nearing $3.00 a gal and no end in sight, I burn wood as much as I can to heat this big ol airy house. I have installed a med size wood stove in the basement that keeps that toasty warm and adds some heat to the upper floors. I burn the fire place in the living room and with the help of a small electric heater in the kitchen it keep the house "tolerable" on all but the coldest days. Once it drops to below 15 degrees outside, I have to fire up the oil furnace and pay big bucks for heat (over $2,400.00) on fuel oil alone our first winter here when oil was around $1.85 a gal)

Finally, by last February, the 10 x 10 extra horse stall was filled with split oak and hickory.

This is the add-on woodshed, 8 x 10 I finished about a month ago, and have been working on filling it for next year's heat supply.

After a nice big bowl of Wheaties in the morning, I feel up to tackling a load of wood. The back row with the reddish tint is all cherry; the row in front that's 3 1/2 foot high is hickory and oak. I'll post another picture as soon as I put another stick of wood on.
