Well, I just had it with my dfx, I couldnt find a real person to help me ( in person I mean) so rather then beat it up against a tree, I got rid of it... Now I am waiting on my xterra 70 with 3 coils comming... so pre warning ya all, I may need help... from watching the
videos, it appears to be a lot easier then the dfx was .. so lets hope I do well with this one.. I am syked for it to arrive.

Meander through the FAQFAQ at the top of the forum at your leisure. I'm sure there are some DFX users that can give you more info on a comparison. Flexibility without complexity is the hallmark of the X-Terras!:heh:

Glad to see you are giving the X-Terra a shot! I've had a couple DFX's. And, although they are good detectors, you can sure get yourself in a pickle when you start making adjustments out in the field. Especially if you are not aware of how one setting might affect another. Like BB said, take a stroll thorugh the FAQFAQ section above. If you can't find enough information there to get you going, don't hesitate to ask questions. Lots of good folks on the X-Terra forum who are willing to share their thoughts and opinions. Welcome aboard! HH Randy

I think you'll like the X-70. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and am really happy with it. By all means read the FAQFAQ. Thta's what I did, along with watching the video. I've only been detecting for less than a year and it was very easy to get going with it....2 silver dimes so far. I'm supposed to get my first pair of glasses later in the week, so I'll probably break down and read the manual as well.

your xterra should be hard to beat. it was a big change from the vaquero,,, don't get me wrong I loved my vaqu, but the id and the multitones are a definite help. New to this forum and from what I can tell the faqfaq is awesome... I've learned a few things already... good luck w/your awesome machine.

Welcome aboard and welcome to one of the best forums on the net. You will not be disappointed with the 70. Although the 70 looks easy to use right out of the box which it is, its also quite sophisticated in the way of versatility. Take your time with the 70 and ask as many questions as you like........there are plenty of experts here to help you out.
Cheers!

is a good machine. I ran one for 3 years and found some awful good stuff with it but I was constantly fiddling with it, hoping I had the right settings for a particular site. I'm not knocking the DFX and never will, but the X-Terras are so simple to use and every bit as deep as the DFX. Once you have it set up to your liking, you pretty much leave it there and just play with the Sensitivity now and then. You will find that it's a much stabler machine without a lot of false signals, even in All-Metal, which I run 99% of the time. Good luck and I hope you'll like it...no, I know you'll like it! Ron

The xterra is powerfully simple. No need to run all sorts of programs like some other machines. The hunters I've been with run in the pre set modes anyway. I know that there are hunters that can exactly tweak the detectors for their liking. But a lot of hunters can't or don't want to. So there's no need to pay $1100 for a detector that you would maybe run in the factory pre set coin mode. The 70 can be a turn on a go machine or can be easily set up for different types of hunting in about 10 seconds. There's really no need to be scared that your going to make an adjustment that will mess the detector up.

Exactly what I did, cept I got an SE right after the 70. For the few weeks that I used it, I found that it was alot easier form me to use than the DFX and it seemed to find some deeper targets for me. I really like my 70 and used it today over the SE between thunderstorms. It is like a breath of fresh air to me compared to the DFX. That DFX is a great detector, just a little too technical for me. You are gonna like that X70.

You guys are great... I just have a good feeling about this one... I know I will succeed... El..had been great too ( your a good dear friend El..now don't be going n getting no big head ok..lol) I have been reading the faq. am on page 7...lol....

I will be watching the ups truck daily.... may have to set up trap to stop him daily n ask..YA GOT ANYTHING FOR ME YET..... I still wanna meet my goal.. I wanna be the best I can be...and for some reason... I think I will enjoy using this x70

BUMMER BUMMER NO MAIL TODAY due to the holiday... I have HIGH HIGH hopes for my xterra and cannot wait to get my hands on it... well, I will read the manula again and watch the videos.......

Hey bootbay congrats on the X-70. I really think you are gonna enjoy it very much. I have read some of your other posts on the DFX. The 70 is very easy to use, and will hit deep. Good luck to you and welcome to the site, Beale.

We will miss you on the DFX forum bootybay and the EX-70 will serve your needs well I'm sure. I wouldn't mind trying one out myself. The DFX is, IMHO, too advanced for most people to comprehend everything it can do. It took me a year to start to understand it and I'm still learning almost 7 years later.
