My detector was always falling over so I fixed the problem. I took the stand off, heated it with my heat gun and positioned the legs as shown. It's solid as a rock. It lowered the center of gravity by 1 inch and widened it by 2 inches. I also bought a book reading light for $8.00 and took the flexable wire off. Attached it to the unit with velco and there you have it. I also painted the top of the lens so it won't shine in my eyes. Just keep it in your pocket for a flash light and if it gets too dark slap it on your detector. Will work for most detectors. Thanks for looking..

I can't see the pic. I'd like to though.

Maybe it was to big?

That's a neat solution for night hunting.

If you could put a red filter on the light then when you turn it on you won't compromise your night vision.

Red light is more comfortable to look at too when working in darkness.

All I did was color the lens red with a sharpie magic marker. That's all it needed. It has a great red light now.

You really want to filter out the white light (and maybe reduce the intensity too).

Many marine lighting systems just use a red plastic film or a rigid plastic cover to convert the white light to red.

If you could find a red LED to put in there that would be perfect.

I was just thinking that if your night-vision becomes tuned well enough to see the targets you're digging you don't want to have to re-adapt every time you look at the meter light.

If you refine the whole thing further and it's working the way you want it too, including the red light, please post all the details with parts and where to buy them along with directions.

I need to put together something like that for my Sun-ray meter.
