I've owned all three X-Terras and had both the regular tone and the high tone Vaquero and Cibola. Personally, I liked the high tone version better. Although the Cibola seemed to perform well in my moderately mineralized soil, I have to admit I liked the capability of having a manual GB on the Vaquero. When you "super tune" them, they do have remarkable depth. I could hit a nickel with that small 5" HOT coil at "airtests" of over a foot. However, I found actually field hunting with them fully "super-tuned" was less than "air-test depth", and quite noisy. Especially when I bumped against a weed, a clod or even wet grass. Another point I didn't like about "super-tuning" them was that, if you forgot to set the gain or threshold down when you went to pinpoint, it would blow your ears off! Without "super-tuning" them, they didn't impress me for depth. Not enough, at least, to replace several other detectors I have. The U-Max series has been around for a long time and has proven itself to be a good detector in iron. Not nearly the depth of the V, C or X-Terras. And compared to the X-Terras, none of these you mentioned have anywhere near the functionality. (notches, TID, tracking, Auto GB, NC, etc.) That is just my opinion. Others may vary. HH Randy
