Xterra 705 (OL)

I have a new Xterra 705 and just started out trying to learn it.
My question is when a large steel object is found or sensed it give an "OL" signal.
The manual says that is a signal too strong to interpret.
How come it has a problem interpreting a large plate steel a foot under ground?
Or if I hold it up to the side of my truck it does the same.

Is there a setting I have screwed up that is doing it?

No. OL=Over Load
You might be able to turn the sensitivity down to nothing and not get an OL on that plate a foot down, but it's a sensitive machine.

The OL target ID will save you many times from digging a bad signal. I'm just always afraid that I may pass up a big coin cache because my guess is that would be an OL signal also.

Love the OL!!! Found a cache of ore that had been placed under an odd, oval shaped, metal drum lid that probably dated to the 1920's or 30's. The drum lid had been buried at the base of a spruce tree 12" deep with the ore placed carefully underneath ... I thought I'd hit the motherload :spin:. I'm guessing it had been stashed with the plan to assay it later, but was instead left for me to find many years later.

I hunt the high rockies (forest, trails, old mining areas) and the OL has also signaled a hand drill that was 24" long over 10" deep, an old splitting wedge at least 10" deep, and alot of other big, old steel objects. Bring on the OL on the 705, I'll dig it every time.

I've found some pretty strong signals in my back yard that never showed up with the old bounty hunter but the ground is too hard to dig. :)
That 15" coil is very sensitive but you can also feel it on the end of the stick.

The 15's are a bit weighty, but after swinging my Explorer w/18" loop the 705 and WOT feel like a feather.
