Fellas and Lady's.I'm from northwest Ohio The ground is bone dry.I have been getting a lot of falsing. What set up would you use .i have run sens from 16 to 25 I hunted with a Sov for the last few years.Had to trade for 70 shoulder prob thanks Terry

If properly ground balanced then you'll just have to keep reducing the sensitivity until she runs smooth.

Falsing, maybe you have got in some iron trashy areas. As the other reply says, ground balance but you may have to slow down and you should be able to tell the difference between the falses and good signals. Falses don't repeat too well and they usually you can tell by the depth meter or you are just to the side of some shallow iron. The falses also sound kind of breathy, it that makes sense. I've been using detectors so long that false that I got used to it, if I had one that doesn't false some, I would probably sell it. Also a smaller coil may help but you still have to go slow and analyze the signals more.

Frist noise cancel, find clean ground, lower sensitivity, ground balance in all metal, then turn up your sensitivity try that and see if it works. Check out FAQ FAQ

That kind of makes me wonder if you are close to power lines, above or underground lines, sewer lines? This kind of thing has happened to me but I realized it only happens in a section of an area. I have had to walk away from areas as the XT70 would not deal with it. I was close to an electric fence once that contained cows, I had to get over 100' away from it before it stopped falsing and picking up the pulse of the fence. HH, Mike

Hi Terry,

Any kind of dirt, black sand, or other foreign material that gets trapped between your coil cover and the coil can cause the problem you are having so be sure to remove the coil cover and inspect for debris. Also if you have a spare coil you might put it on and see if the problem goes away.

Good luck
Tom

What i said last time might be alittle confusing lol sorry.

Frist noise cancel (cause of any outside electricial interferance)

Adjust your sensitivity down to help stop falsing

Next in All Metal find some ground thats free of any metal.

Then ground balance.

Adjust your sensitivity as needed.

Check FAQ ..Digger has alot of info on the X-70

If that dont help : check the coil your using to see if its clean of anything that may cause it to false, use another coil if you have one.

If none of this helps you might have to send it to the shop. I hope you dont have to do that....

Thanks guys. We got a little rain here so things are looking up.I guess my questions were misleading.I wanted to know how you guys set up for super dry conditions. The 70 has been very good to me .The last few months .Finding several old coins in the 8-9 inch range. And one old Half dollar size token at a measured 12 inches thanks terry
