Has anybody ever dug a target with a solid 30 TID and found it wasn't junk?
30 seems to be a junk number to me but I hate to notch it and miss somehinig good.

28- 30- 32 here in Aus are good numbers for us as it means you could be onto a $1 or $2 coin
Cheers!

30 on my X-70 is a penny. It is also what a pop can comes up as, but if it rings like it is on the surface and my pinpointer does not sense it, I know it is not a penny. The zink pennies read 32-36 for me, but the coppers read 30. The one I don't dig if it is not solid and clear is 24. That is alway can shred when I dig it. 12 is often can shred to, but so are nickles, so I dig them. What kind of trash are you finding that is a 30?

n/t

I do get some of the older screw on metal bottle caps as a 30. They seem to ring as a 28 lots of times. The same rule seems to apply to these like the pop cans. If it rings shallow and I dig deeper than the tone indicaties, it is not a penny. I dug one today that rang 30 and shallow, but the after removing a coule of inches of dirt I figured it was not a penny but I dug it anyway. it was a pop top but I was willing to dig it and find out. I got my first tax token and an unidentfied token on the same signals today, so it was worth digging some trash for me.

Have you tried to see what a pre-1981 penny rings? Those seem to ring solid 30 for me, and the stinking zinc pennies read between that and 38 which is what dimes normally read for me. I don't have any contact with other X-70 users so this is great information for me to learn.
