Hi Guys,
Have been using the Quattro since it was released in Australia about 2 years and 3 months ago. Just sold it recently and have bought an exterra 70 which i should get on monday. The question i would like to ask is the QUATTRO sometimes when you set it up and do a noise cancel and start to search if you have a fixed pattern in discrimination normally coins in the Australian currency like our 5 cent coin will come in at 11 sometimes it will be 10 or 12 the same with all the other coins our 50 cent normally is 28 but i have had it as low as 24. DOES THE EXTERRA 70 CHANGE IN DISCRIMINATION PATTERNS.

Pinpointa,

You'll still notice some bouncing or number spreads with the XT-70 on modern Aussie coinage. I don't think it is as pronounced as the Explorer/Quattro but it is still there. The cause is most likely due to the condition of the coins. Modern Aussie coins seem to rust/corrode easily except (thankfully) the 1 and 2 dollar coins which seem to hit a pretty constant value. I took out my Explorer II today and decided that I am going to stick to the XT-70. The Explorer sounds like a symphony compared to the XT-70 and I missed the Prospecting mode oh so much (imho the best pinpointing tool around). Now if I can convince Minelab to put out a 12"+ coil. :>

cheers...Keith :ausflag:

That the coins that i am using are straight out of circulation put on the ground and accepted in to a discrimination pattern.
