Has anyone used both?
And what's you choice.
I know the xterra has ground balance, but for coin hunting
how do they compare??

Thanks

This has been covered numerous times, do a search on "250" for "all dates" and you will find the threads.

Bruce,

I will answer you question so you don't have to search through all the other posts. I own both the Ace 250 and the X-Terra 70 and have used the X-Terra 50. The Ace 250 is a great detector for the money. However, it has a preset ground balance which will limit its detection depth under some ground mineralization conditions. The X-Terra 50 has an adjustable ground balance that allows the user to get maximum detection depth under almost all ground conditions. It doesn't matter what your are hunting, coins or anything else, having an adjustable ground balance will allow the user to detect targets at the maximum possible depth and bring home more of the good stuff. If you can spring for the extra bucks go for the X-Terra 50, it will perform better under all ground conditions.

God Bless

I really do like my Ace 250. The Ace probably is the best 'bang for the buck' out there but my X-Terra 70 averages at least 2 more inches in depth hunting over the same ground.

Ditto Smitty. Plus the 50 has more notches and volume control. The 250 compares better with the Xterra 30. The Xterra 30 only has a volume control over the 250.

Khouse what is your opinion on depth differences between the ace and the 70? I have pulled 2 indians at a measured depth of 7" with my ace, the ground was moist. Do you think the 70 would have still gotten 2 more inches in that condition?

Your just simply going to get deeper and clearer signals with a detector that has an adjustable GB in most instances.

I hunted for a year with the 250 and last week I got the x-70.........you cannot compare these machines at all, it is like comparing a VW Beetle to a Cadillac. It is just that much better in my opinion.
