Xterra 50 Sensitivity - Where are most running theirs at?

Would like to know where users are running their sensitivity at, I think I am running mine too high (15). Thanks :)

been running mine @ 12 and have had some decent finds. 4-6 inch depths

I am fortunate to live in a part of the Country that has moderately mineralized soil and very few "hot rocks". I started out running my X-Terra 50 at 16, not wanting to set it so high that I didn't confuse metal targets with minerals. However, having used the X-Terras for several months now, I am running mine "full bore". That is 20 on the X-50 and 10 on the X-30. In the areas I hunt, the GB settings on the X-50 vary from 6 to 11, depending on the soil at that particular site.

I do encounter a bit of falsing with the sensitivity set at 20. Particularly in rough terrain. But, it actually helps me hunt. Ferrous targets produce a low tone and I ignore them. But the occassional chirp at the end of a sweep, or over some rough ground tells me that I am running as "HOT" as I can and the GB is OK. HH Randy

I have been running mine from 16 to 20 and getting excellent depth. When working up against metal posts in playgrounds I have to back it off to a 10 with good results. Most of our ground here in southeast Texas is low in minerals. John

if absolutely necessary. Rather than work as site at a lower Sensitivity setting and later wonder if I might have hit on something just a little deeper or a litter better response at a higher setting, I use all I can at any given site, with any detector in hand.

I have been in a few places where I had a little too much noise or chatter and had to drop it down to about 15-16-17, and only two sites where I needed a setting of 12. Over 90% of the time I am hunting at a setting of '20'.

Thanks All, apparently when minelab put a new coil with the machine and tested it they did not reset the presets to the factory preset values. So when I first turned the unit on it was at a sensitivity of 20. I found in the manual how to restore the factory presets to the preset values and I will do that and adjust from there. I am sure that will solve the problem. I should have read the manual thoroughly before taking the machine out and minelab should have ensured when the unit left the factory that ALL the factory presets were restored to the origianl factory resets and this issue would have never come up.
