Will both 305 and 505 balance to wet salt sand.I dont need the low Freq ,I can use the 305 if it will work. Thanks tincan

You can pretty much ground balance to any type of soil or sand. On detectors without tracking, I work parallel to the water. That way I am not constantly changing from wet to dry sand, or vice-versa, creating the need to constantly re-ground balance. JMHO HH Randy

In my experience xterras do not do well in wet salt water sand. But dry sand they do great.

Think about it. You have a 0-20 GB range, so it can in fact balance to anything, just like any machine with adjustable GB or Auto GB would. Depending on the specific mineral makeup and level, there is likely to be a depth loss, especially in the wet where it is as close to being saturated as is possible w/o going into the water. The more important consideration might be which coil/frequency to use. I don't think that the stock coil would be my 1st choice.
