XT70 still doesn't work right

Every one is prob'ly tired of hearing this, but,,,,,, I tried my XT70 on some coins on a clear area of ground, and after sending it in twice, the numbers still jump all over, from iron to whatever. But I did learn one interesting thing, when I put it in prosp, mode (using the MF 101/2 in. coil} the depth it would pick up the coin more than doubled. I guess I'll just have to live with the way the XT70 works. Thanks for listening (if you did lol}

Just a thought. Check how well your battery terminals connect to your batteries. If it's a loose fit, you may want to try and very gently tease the spring out a bit to give a better contact.
It can be very frustrating sending it back more than once for the same problem. I went through that with the 30 I had. Took 3 send backs to sort out the problem. I think that there was some sort of communication break down. Although I talked to the techie on the phone and wrote down the problem each time I sent it back, it was as if it wasn't looked at. The third time I sent it back, I requested that they replace the control box, which they were kind enough to do. Hopefully, it's only something simple like a bad battery connection. That can cause you all sorts of grief, leaving you scratching your head, wondering what's going on.

Bubber,

Ditto to what Mick said...
send it back to ML with a note telling them how many times it has been to them for this problem and that it is still occurring and ask for a new control box.
Let us know how you got on.
Good luck
