XT-70 - Fisher F75 ?

Bobbylikesgold

New member
This is an open question of what to do.

The XT70 has being tested .

Now Fisher makes this statment : We beleave the F-75 will make all other multi purpose detectors Obsolite as this was our intention.

Buy the Terra 70 now, or wait for the reviews on the F-75.

Thoughts please.

Bob.

In fact, the Jury won't be getting together until the F-75 hits the streets. (and the dirt).
After putting hundreds of hours into the X-Terras, making hundreds of posts and answering thousands of questions, I honestly like it more every time I use it. And, it seems I learn more each time, as well. I don't think anyone can make an honest comparison between the X-70 and the F-75 until it has been used in the field, by real detectorists. The Fisher engineers who built it have undoubtedly used it in the field. But, I doubt they hunted with the X-Terra to make any valid comparisons. Even the marketing people at First Texas have been pretty tight lipped about the F-75. I haven't read many actual field results of either of their new models. As to saying it will make all others obsolete..... you have to expect a manufacturer to say those things. It wouldn't would draw much attention if they said it had some of the features of the X-70 and hunted half as deep as the Advantage. Heck, if it did those things, they would have called it the ID Edge. Sorry, I lost it there at the end. HH Randy

That made me laugh out loud Randy. Too funny. :D

First Texas is the company that owns and manufactures Bounty Hunter and Fisher products in El Paso TX.

Minelab still owes us a small coil. If you can live without it the X-Terra 70 is a very good detector. I sold my X-Terra 70 but will buy one again if a small coil is released.

F75 ? I don't know. If it works well and First Texas releases a small coil it could be the better choice for me.

Right now the Whites M6 with the 4x6DD coil does best what i want....high speed, tone ID and target separation.

Either buy, hire or use a friends detector. Im sorry but we all know how this works when something NEW hits the market.....along comes a thousand questions about how good it is, cost, depth, coils etc etc. We can all read the hog-wash about broken promises on how the next big thing since Potato Chips came along but the fact is unless you actually use a particular item you will never know. How many people do you know that have said to you how crap a movie was but when you watch it for yourself it was totaly amazing! Asking questions on a product before its been fully tested is like puting a bet on a horse with a name like Rusty Nail with odds that are 150 to 1 to win. Come on man lets get real here. Besides this is the offical X-Terra forum a fisher F75 what? Sounds like some kind of American Jet Bomber.
Cheers!

"horses for courses"

Otto, try the X70 sometime at a site like that iron nail filled ghost town in the mountains. But be sure to take an Edge with you. ;)

Depth as Digger said, yes and not only when comparing to the Edge, they just happen to be in a similar price range now that ML dropped its price $100.00. LOL The Exterras are plenty deep, no doubt about it.. Horses for courses.

Tom

Unless you are in a hurry, wait until the F-75 gets in the hands of some serious nugget hunters and they report on it before making your decision.

Tom

THE NEW F-75 BY FISHER IS A T2 BY TEKNETCS,JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE CONTROL BOX ON THE T2,ITS THE SAME ONE ON THE F-75.THE T2 IS VERY DEEP BUT THE TUBING IS TERRIBLE,LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THE LOWER SHAFT.GO TO THE TEKNETICS FORUM AND CHECK OUT THE COMPLAINTS!!SINCE FIRST TEXAS OWNS BOTH OF THEM THEY HAVE COMBINED THE F-75.

Horses for courses. The right tool for the job. Different strokes for different folks.... I agree. And, I know you have had better success separating iron from the keepers with the Edge. But, I'm hoping part of your success can be attributed to the size of the coil. I also hope that we will be able to equip our X-Terras with such a beast soon, and give it another shot. I have a couple places I need to get back to before the crops are planted!
Take no offense to my comments, please. My post was merely an effort to have fun, on a day that weather guessers say will end with additional 7-10 inches of snow on the ground. Preceded by ice, naturally! Darn, I hate winter??? HH

Randy

Actually, Tom, my best luck at that site was with the Sovereigns. I found many more coins in amongst the iron, than with any other. Of course, it was very slow going, but over 200 pre-1881 coins was worth it. It's now under development, so those days are over.

Haven't really had an opportunity to really use the X-Terra 70 yet. The weather here has been the worst in 30 years, and I've only had a chance to get 4 hours on it. We'll see how it goes this Spring, if it ever comes.

I, personally, didn't like the Edge or the CoinStrike. The Excel wasn't bad, but it had no depth where I hunt. Now, if I had that low mineralization soil here, like I had in Michigan, it might be a different story. I know you've had good luck with the Edge there.

The MXT is also one of my all-time favorite units, and a prime relic hunter, where I hunt.

I really got a laugh from Randy's post. It just hit me funny. Sorry you were so sensitive over it. It hit me just right on this, yet another, snowy day here. I don't think any harm was meant by it.

Good hunting,
OldeTymer

Randy no offense taken. I had a good chuckle over it also. Anyone that has used both a sufficient length of time knows what each excels at.

The worst of the ice and freezing rain is supposed to stay just to the south of us which is typical for the northern lower peninsula. We get lots of snow but others get the wintry mix. Thanks goodness!

Tom

Sorry to hear that site is being paved over and before I had a chance to get out that way for a shot at it. It sure has been a long hard winter for you. Heck being from Michigan it must be an ugly reminder of what its like here. LOL

Tom

Thanks for all the comments , especially Digger.

Its so hot here I can't go detecting , about 110f in the shade.
Swimming in the pool & cold beer will have to do for now.

Have Fun
Bob

HI Bob,

Where in Oz are you? I enjoy viewing the Australian gold forums. Unfortunately I will probably never have the opportunity to vist your country.

Good luck during your upcoming "winter".

Tom

Hi Tom,

I'm in far west New South Wales , a dry arid zone .

Got a mate that out gold detecting now in the heat with millions of flies, madness .

Cheers Bob.

Yes, it's a shame as I believe there is still a lot there to find. Unfortunately, it's mostly being masked by the iron overburden that would keep any detector from finding it. If you were there, you would see what I mean. The only way to remove the balance of what's in the ground, and I think it's considerable, would be to remove about 5 inches of the surface (nothing was really deep, and seated coins were eyeballed on the surface), and sift it.

Here's a snapshot of the weather this afternoon just for those in warmer climes that might miss this kind of thing. :D

Good hunting,

from what I have read you sure are in the right area for nugget hunting.
I envy you that. My gold finds are all "processed" gold. Still you can't beat that yellow gleam.
