XT 70 coil for gold and beach hunting

critter getter

New member
I have a XT 70 and I'm going to be going to new Mexico to do a little hunting for some gold. And was wanting to get a coil that would work the best. i was hoping that there would be a coil that would work for gold hunting and the beach as well being i live on the beach. I have read a lot about the 6"DD 18.75 being good for gold but what about the beach? i was also think about the 10.5 DD 18.75. what would you do??????????/
Any help would be great.

The 10" DD is not water proof just water resistant. For that reason alone I would use the 6". Both will hit the gold well with that high Freq. You will have no issues at all in the dry sand, but may have to turn your sens down in the wet sand, Beale.

yup I agree with Beale. 6" HF coil all the way.

I agree with Beale about the 6" 18.75 kHz DD coil being good for gold, either at the beach or away from it. If you will be spending some time at the beach, and can only afford to get the 6" coil, dont forget the standard 9" concentric...in the dry sand it will work well, and it is also waterproof, if you wander a bit off course.

Well i got the 6DD 18.75kHz coil, cover, and lower shaft on its way for 176.00 looking forward to getting it and trying out!!!!!

If you had a choice of either the Xt-70 with the 6" DD HF or the Infinium with the stock 10 X 14 in mineralized ground
