Has anyone heard if Minelab is any closer to correcting the "crack" issue. I have sold my XLT and have been waiting to see if they will address this soon as Whites has the new DFX coming soon. Although I'm not holding my breath, I will compare the two and go with what I feel is best

Last I heard, the fix they had wasnt working, so back to the drawing board.. heard that second hand though so dont know if its true.. one thing I do know is people are too worried about the cracking.. I still have yet to see a single one post that the cracks prevented anyone from using the machine...

For what it's worth...I have had my Explorer for a little over a year now (since 2/00) and have had NO problem with cracking, or anything else for that matter.
I understand that the word on the DFX is that it will use only 2 frequencies, and Whites had to pay Minelab for the right to use the technology.<~~~(that's just the word on the street, but it's probably true)
Not to boast, but one of my finds was accepted in W & E Treasures Best Finds this month (page 73). It's an 1 1/2 oz 18K (or better) gold medal.
This is the most helpfull & informative forum I have found on the web. Keep up the good work!!!

Jim,
I was talking to Minelab today and before we got cut off I was told the new Explorer that are being made have the better housing on them and being ours still will detect with no problem to keep on using them untill we cant use them or wait untill we are in a off season for detecting then send them in as they expect the shippment in a few weeks of new style housings and will take care of them under warrenty.

I sure hope the XS I ordered from florida comes with the new arm support.

Thank you all for the information. Oh and also, I agree with George on the fact that this is the most informative forum that I have to date "detected!"

FYI George...Its troo, its troo! I got the Whites info FROM a Whites DEALER. They really did have to pay Minelab for the permission to use the dual frequency technology! So did all of the other companies that are running multi freq machines. <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">
