xs pinpointing

i broke down & sold my beloved sovereign - i've got an explorer coming this week. my question is this: with the sov it became second nature to pinpoint, just flip the remote switch to all metal and make an x at 90

Neal,
On the deeper and weaker signals you can still use the 90 degree pinpoint you have been using on the Sovereign. Now the ones that are not so deep and I use this more and more each time out is to make sure it is repeatable signal and stay in disc and move the coil back untill you lose the signal so you know the general location of the target, then lift the loop up and go to pinpoint and being you know the general location on the target go back and wiggle side to side untill you center the coil over the target. Now without going side to side I will bring the coil staright back to me untill the signal disapears and forward again to get it and back and forth narrowing it down and getting the edge of the signal, now it will be right under the Minelab decal on the tip of the coil.
Been doing the same thing with the Sovereign now too unless it is a very weak signal, then I will do the 90 degree pinpoint.
Good Luck with the Explorer
Rick

i've read a million of your posts about the explorer and the sov. i know you prefer the sovereign because you are more comfortable with it, but are learning to use the explorer. i liked my sov a lot too, and was very comfortable with it, having logged hundreds of hours on it. i only hope i can get that comfortable with the explorer, because it's hard to ignore the finds being made with this machine. thanks for your response. i'll use those suggestions for sure. hh.
