xs jack plug

Does anyone know where you can get the 1/4 jack plug socket fitted to the later
Explorer 2 , SE , Quartro etc ?
I have an early XS model with the 1/8 jack plug and would like to convert
it to the 1/4
Would minelab do it ?Or can you get them through your local minelab
Dealer ?

Give Minelab U.S.A. a call for info. Heck at radio shack they have a inexpensive plug in that will solve the problem....Have no idea what Minelab would charge for the change and belive its a package deal where they also include a rear stand eliminating the front stand...

DTE,I have seen after market Explorer XS stands with the 1/8 to 1/4 inch conversion on ebay for around 50 dollars. You may find an old Sunray stand for a couple of bucks on the classifieds.Dan's idea about finding a conversion plug at Radio Shack may be the simple and best solution.

I wouldn't think the dealers would have a replacement 1/4 jack for the Explorer, they would likely refer you to ML.
There was somebody that replaced one but I can't remember where they got the part, use the search feature on this forum, Explorer forum and the mod forum and see if you get anything.
In the mean time, you could use an adaptor or an adaptor with a volume control from RS and attach it to the outside of one of your side pieces of the armrest.
Hope this will help.
HH.

I would try the classifieds for a used adaptor/stand or if you were handy with a soldering gun, you could make an adaptor. Even though RS makes one that just plugs in, I think that is asking for trouble. I can see the adaptor sticking out hitting on something and doing more damage than good. Now back to the soldering.......I would use a small shielded cable, (6" to 12" long) between the 1/4" jack and 1/8" right angle plug, so there is not much sticking out to get caught on something. Ideally though, the stand adaptor worked great for me.
