had my uniy out in the a.m. to a local park weather was a pleasant 50s in a half hour unit shut off on its own 3 times. i use the stealth 8 inch coil and the x1 probe the last time she shut down could not restart, when i got home she started right up so i left on and in 3 hours she has not shut off once.any help would be appreciated thank for your help Robert
 
Hmmm... that sounds scary alright. There are a few things that could cause this that you can possibly fix, if not, then it's off to Vegas for your detector I'm afraid.
1) Does this happen with your NiMh or your alkalines? If it only happens with your NiMh pack then it could be defective. If it only happens with your alkaline pack then make sure you have fresh batteries and that all of the contacts look good.
2) Are you snapping the battery packs in all the way?
3) Are the springs inside the detector where the battery makes contact slightly bent?
4) Make sure that there is no moisture or any foreign objects in the battery chamber inside the detector that might short out against the battery springs.
5) Make sure that all of you coils and probe connections are securely tightened down.
If none of this helps then you better call Minelab and see what they recommend to do. Good luck!
 
Mine shut complptely a couple times & I found
that the battery connections on the battery are
highly susestible to corrousion.
Yours may not be shutting off completely as was
mine, but now I clean the conections regularly
no more problems. Great machine. HH jim
