XS AS A GOLD NUGGETT FINDER
the xs would be ok in my opinion for use in the goldfields, it will reliably find reasonable size nuggetts .22 bullett size and up, if they are there the xs will find them. not only that there are plenty of coins+relics to find also.
all that is neccesary is to operate the xs in all metal mode.so if you have an minelab xs explorer, dont feel you cant prospect as well get out there and give it a go you will be pleasantly surprised. i am in south australia, and love to go to the golden triangle in victoria goldfields whenever i can.i have seen nuggetts found with the xs and the good old sovriegn. so there you go . they will tell you its not suitable to go gold prospecting cos then you will have to buy a prospecting detector also ??. but believe me the xs will find the nuggetts if they are there, the only thing i would say is an eliptical dd coil would be handy to pop on when you go prospecting. as this would also improve its capabilitys in this field of detecting. however not absolutely essential.

Ive been keen to goto the Golden Triangle to do some prospecting. What size coils would you use, whats the best place to goto. Im in Tassie, I got holidays soon and Im thinkin about 2 weeks in Vic. Wheres the best place to go?

smaller items then the .22 bullet size nuggets???? I dont mined the weight as some say this coil is heavy, but if it is more sensitive to smaller items....then, I have found my COIL!!!
DOC on the prospecting forum has said at the tip and back is it's best sensitive spot's, so.....just how gooooood........is this ELEPTIC(coiltek 5-10") joey?????
Do you own a COILTEK Joey?
And has anyone herd of a mono coil for the XS?
Its said that the mono style coils are very sensitive to small items.
