I put the 2 kings of the hill through the paces in my test garden.

Calabash, I've been enjoying your Deus videos. You certainly know how to bring out the best in the machine. For the CTX...... yes, a much slower swing speed is critical for target separation and getting an accurate ID, and having the six inch coil on definitely would have improved the results in the tests where the nails were involved. No matter how you set up the CTX however, the Deus will always win the target separation battle. That's why I would agree that the Deus is the better relic hunter, and coins too, at older sites loaded with ferrous trash. For sites that contain a lot of modern trash, the CTX works better for me. In my dirt the Deus tends to up-average targets. Now that works well for pulling a good signal from a non ferrous target co-located with iron, and it also makes those deep coins in the high conductor range sing out with a nice high tone. However, it also tends to skew the ID's on targets that are deeper or very small, so some trash can end up ID'ing in the coin range. I do some of my hunting in trashed-out inner city parks, and that's where the CTX has the advantage in picking out the deeper nickels, indians, wheats and silver while alerting me to a lot of the trash that hovers around those ranges. I would love to see XP work their magic and throw us U.S. coin hunters a bone in the form of a Deus that ID's as well as it does everything else. For the time being though, they seem to be more focused on the larger global market for gold machines, which does make more sense financially. Anyway, two great machines, Deus and CTX....... both very different, both very good at what they do best.

Thanks I might take this thing up to my local park and find some targets with the Deus and compare those signals it has tons of clad and modern trash.

Hey great video!
Sure glad I own a Deus!

P.s. Hey man would love to have a neighbour like you, here in the UK!!
Dave.

thanks! Ive been very blessed to have two of the best machines in my hands on the planet ,honestly the ctx might be king of the beach but no way no how does it outperform the deus on land . Thats the truth! if it did I would buy one. I tested the id today at the old ice cream shop where there are tons of clad coins and tons of trash. The minelab struggled to id those coins but had good tones, the deus nailed them made me go hmm! seems like all I here is how the deus is weak at iding and the minelab is great at it well watch the video when I post it and you will see whats up.

Hey seen your comparison on you tube and enjoy the videos,I own both machines also and have a friend that uses the Deus alot and has for years,to make a long story short, the Ctx smokes the deus on everything except dense iron and dense dense trash like directly next to a park pavillion, the Deus simply just cannot keep up in the deep silver department in the parks and average yard, the find rate for old coins is drastically different between the machines, the Deus does do better on shallow clad.. but..Im after the old the silver and I'll reach for that Ctx almost 99 percent of the time unless it's a relic hunt, iron infested or to check a spot that is no longer producing at all, also you only manual ground balance a Ctx if the auto sensitivity reads 12 or lower, running auto +3 is the way to go,I heard the Ctx in the video going nuts so it was nowhere near stable, slow your swing with it alot and wiggle wiggle stop to get the vdi you couldn't get to appear on certain targets,I have owned a Ctx from day one and have well over 1000 silvers with it, for coins disc out 24 Fe to 35Fe only leave the rest open, auto +3 sens, fast on,high trash,50 tones, and crank up the audio and volume limit and have good headphones like gen 1 black widows,Gen 2 is total garbage but Detector pro will swap the old style in for an extra 20 bucks gl&hh

sounds like you know the CTX well for my purposes it will not help me as I relic hunt in thick iron and high trash areas.. I do have deep silver coins in my test garden 12 inch silver quarter ,12 inch silver half,10 inch merc, 4 inch little silver to mimic a trime, 4 inch merc in iron and the Deus blasts them , I dont know if I buy that whole deep silver business . In my testing the CTX only beat the deus on target id depth which doesnt come into play in my style of hunting. I would say the reason you have more deep silver with the ctx is you hunt with it more? everyone has there choice its a chevy ford argument.

I hear ya on the experience having an impact on the rate of older finds and I have 50 times more time on my Ctx,but the Ctx does possess a stop you in your tracks audio on old deep silver and coins that the Deus doesn't have in my opinion, my hearing isn't what it used to be and the older Deus headphones I have aren't the best especially compared to the black widows but I can only report to what I have seen and experienced using both of them in my 1000s of hours in the field ,my buddy also owns both and has more time on the Deus than Ctx and he doesn't do as well as me with eather of the machines so I guess it can be a subjective debate eather way on old coins, relics there is a clear winner and that is the Deus ,personally I love them both but for different reasons and I got to admit I'm a coin guy unless a site is worthy of getting every last relic and that isn't often for me due to the lack of military action in my area, lol I hear ya on the car example.. to me it's like comparing a drag car to a rally car,I just hope the 4.0 update is awesome for the Deus because I do want to use it more! Also targets that have been in ground for years will react different than freshly placed targets in test garden so I take those results as not entirely accurate! I have an old site that is approaching the Deus phase and is the worst iron infestation I have seen so it should be a good example,I'll keep you posted on it

let me know I love those iron infested hunted out sites some of my best finds have came off them, seems like every site like that has a couple of goodies that were missed.

The Deus is impressive when it comes to depth in your videos. I bought the Deus for my iron infested ghost towns and old logging camps. I've always used my Sovereign GT for deep coin hunting so it will be interesting to see how the Deus handles the hot ground in my area for depth in the cleaner areas. If I can get the excellent separation of the Deus and depth similar to the GT in one package I will be a happy camper.

My ground is mild so your results may vary but let me know.

going to try and find someone who skilled with the ctx and shoot another video.
