XP Deus or XP ORX?

XP Deus or XP ORX? I have read alot of post but still dont see why to buy the ORX instead of Deus? except for saving money. What is big difference between the two if any?
What benefit is there to buying ORX over Deus?

Price mainly and its a simplified Deus less settings and its shaft is redesigned to cut a little more weight.

If running similar programs with both the ORX and Deus and having the same coils, they will run the same.
The plus of the Deus is adjustability and more settings.
The ORX is limited and simplified.

I've been debating the same thing and think I will go with the ORX 9 inch plus one of the larger X35 coils to go with. Gardansolyn and Calabash Digger have some good vids on them just to name a couple. My hunting has been slowly shifting from park hunting to more and more home sites so maybe a dedicated relic machine is in order. The frequencies of the two coils will cover any dogone thing I might ever encounter and then some even though it does give up some of the fine tuning the Deus control box offers. If anyone has anything to throw in I'm a few weeks out from ordering anything and still open to advice.

This is what I'm doing. I've had a few Deus detectors and absolutely love them. Most of the settings I use on the Deus is on the ORX so I have no doubt I will be fine for what I do. Will ad the 11" x35 coil and be set. My ORX should be here today..

Been looking at the 13 inch coil myself. I have several local parks and other areas that are relatively clean but have plenty of history and would like to see what that extra depth can sniff out.

It is a Deus …..made simple and cheaper. Less settings same performance in a 3tone setup.

Buying an ORX over the Deus will only save money. Not sure there are benefits unless you want the new style rod assembly, or that the ID numbers on screen are larger, that the headphones volume is more adjustable which I do like better, or this may be a fluke but my ORX with the 9" HF coil is deeper than my Deus was with same coil. That was all settings equal. May have been the coil itself not sure..

Keep hearing the X-35 coils are more noisier than the HF-coils? If the HF coil works well at 13khz that is probably my go-to frequency for coin hunting anyway and if any iron bump the frequency up.
So it looks like the ORX has a few simple benefits over the Deus.

Basically a gold nugget hunting machine if that's what you want. I recently got a Deus with 9" X35 coil. Really glad I did not get the 11"--too big, doesn't pinpoint as well, not as good in mineralized ground or EMI so you have to turn down the sensitivity. Very little difference in depth. To save money I opted for the wired headphones and bought an armband to hold the RC. That way I am half-wireless, can still set the detector down without wires connected to it. I saw that guy on you tube said he liked the wired headphones better. Definitely sound sharper than my computer speakers when i was watching the videos.

Orx is more than a gold nugget hunter. It has two coin modes.

Hey Bill, What is the difference in your finding silver coins and jewelry since 1978? Interested in your input on the hobby over the years! Thanks. Dave MacLean

Well I have done very well over the years. Used to find enough gold to fund vacation. Those days are over in my area. I still find some good but not near as much as silver.. the good thing is the detectors keep getting better. Helps find deeper and more masked goodies.. the deus sure opened up alot of spots that we're hunted to death and could no longer locate anything good. I usually find 150 or so silver coins per year and maybe a handful of gold items these days. Parks, schools, private homes are my main areas. Some field hunting with deus. I am moving soon, just signed contract with a buyer on my home yesterday. We are having a new home being built in southern Alabama and will be done September 26th. Beach hunting and more field hunting will be my main thing there. So we will see.

Buy a deus and you’ve got an orx built in , plus many other options to help you thought each different site you detect on.

Personally never understood the point of the orx, if you want to save money, buy a deus lite... you can add the remote at a later date

I went for the ORX because of the affordability and very favorable reports
from detectorists I respect greatly. From my first couple of hunts I was sure
that the ORX is the detector for me. I prefer a simplified machine with relatively
few programs and settings where the factory programs were very carefully
developed by XP. I’m so impressed with this machine I got all the coils except
for the 11”x13”. Even with the price reductions it was a sizable expense.

They did so because it has reached a new market of consumers like me. Guys that do not want to tweak their unit can just set their disc, sensitivity and frequency and go to town. I will admit it opened my eyes and I purchased the deus remote as well. They are killing 2 birds with one stone. For the guys who have used an ORX they will possibly purchase the Deus. For the guys who just use the factory pre set programs on the Deus, they can sell their Deus and buy a new ORX and pocket the rest of the cash. It is a win win for the XP company.
