XLT

[size=medium]I bought the XLT the second year after it came out. I moved to the Philippines and took it with me. I have not used it now for about 3 yrs. When I turned it on, it now has Horizontal Screen Blanking. It is very difficult to read! I doubt your answer will be yes, but do you know of ANY place in Southeast Asia that can repair the XLT? Living in the Philippines, I am sure it would be quite expensive to send it to Whites for repair, and have them send it back to me once it is repaired. The cost may be prohibitive; besides now that i want to get back into Detecting, I am thinking of upgrading to a Newer machine. I want to do both beach and land hunting but I have no idea what machine will serve me best. Any help will be appreciated!

Sincerely, Ken

:whites:MXT would be a great one to invest in.
I run the XLT and the MXT which both are great detectors.

First try this and see if it cures your fuzzy lines. Inside the area that the battery slides into there are two tabs. Clean them with a pencil eraser and then bend them outwards carefully.

Hope that might be it.

Certainly could be the meter pod but also from standing the band of wires that plugs into the pod may be not making contact or may have loosened...more than one XLT is up and running again just by off and on of the band connector to the pod several times and make sure its tight...Hard to explain how to get to it but unit has to be partially dismantled and one needs a little expertise or perhaps a friend or club member could help..Doesn't work all the time but surely a cheap fix...
