Better than nothing. The owner guide state silent search needs to be off for mixed mode to work properly, but i found with certain programs and mixed mode i can go in trashy areas and pick out targets people have missed such as today mixed mode still work correctly but with silent search a target has to be a little stronger to break through but you still get more depth and not all the noise, sometime it good to cruse silently .or quote a movie Run Silent Run Deep.

Good finds.

are you saying running silent does effect dept? i'd swear the instruction video says it don't. i'll have to view it again. but just in case have you found differantly?

Not so much that it effect depth it that the object has to be stronger to break through to hear.If you go to coin mode turn on mixed mode turn on silent search ac between 65 and 70 dc from 35 to 40 now adjust your pre amp gain a little at a time so your not getting signals all the time on screen.if you go in and turn visual disc off you will see everything on screen you pass over but will mostly only hear what you discriminated in,in coin mode, also you can increase or decrease vid sensitivity.I have been going in moderate trashy areas and pulling coins others have missed without to much noise and trash interference.Doesn't hurt to try it for a half hour or so.Just by going in coin mode and make a few adjustments,Hope this explain some.
