XLT scores ring # 7

Vasco

New member
I picked up the kids from the babysitter today and stopped the local totlot. I haven't hit it in a while because it has never been to productive. I decided to do a quick sweep and I scored Ring # 7 for the year. Its junk but its purdy.....and its a ring!

5.3 Bullseye coil
Start with the stock coin & jewlery program
PAG 4
AC Sensitivity- I like to start around 68 but I play with it depending on the detector's reaction to the poles.
VCO- On

That's about it, you dont need too much depth on totlots (at least my experience). I dig everything as lots of times I remove trash that could cause injury to kids. I pretty much swing away and hope for the best.

Nice thing about the 6" puck is you can bump the gain and not suffer much trouble. And it is nice and tight. Sounds like a good set up.

Hey, some really nice rings can be not made of gold or silver! Your heart still skips that beat and you don't forget the find! I still tend to just dig tight numbers but if the numbers look interesting...cool stuff can pop out.
I have only one bad memory regarding a "junk" ring. Was detecting a local old school doing a coin exclusive hunt. This lady and her husband pull up with detectors and this gal just goes total rabid on me for hunting at "there" spot! I just kept quiet (wanting the flying monkeys to just take here away) and soon she comes running across the field at me, sporting this fairly attractive cocktail ring I'd "been stupid and missed"!! I smiled, didn't say a word....and imagined flying monkeys..... Never met another fellow detectorist quite like her and again...nice ring. (With no "monkey" thoughts!)
