XLT QUESTION

:whites::cool: Does anyone know what the future holds for the XLT? Do you think it will be discontinued right along with the other 6.59 frequency Pro Series detectors?

I emailed Whites a while back with the same concerns on losing 6.59khz frequency or the XLT. I stated how 6.59khz has advantages over the newer higher frequencies for hunting Civil War relics, after all they did much research to come to that frequency anyway and I certainly feel they hit it dead on the money...pardin the pun. They wrote back stating it wasn't in any future plans to stop using that frequency and that the XLT was the most selling and popular unit in the last 10 years and that they certainly weren't planning on dropping it either.
I've noticed now after the new wave of multi-frequency, dual frequency, higher frequencies, that companies are going back to single frequencies and now offering the lower frequency choice again. Like Minelab, it was all about multi-frequency and higher frequency, and now the latest is you can go single freq 7/8khz or change the coil to a the higher 18 khz freq, which is a good idea in my book, though I'm still a Whites man. In my letter to Whites I mentioned to them that if they had created the DFX to use 6.59khz and 15khz as there choice of duals, I'm sure I would have never traded it back in.

:whites::cool: Thanks for the info Dave. Im trying to decide on an upgrade but I dont want to get a detector that will:detecting: be discontinued. I have a whole bunch of extra coils that operate at the good old 6.59 standard. They work excellent on my IDX. Happy Hunting!

Hey Dirtfisher, Those coils should work on any of the WHITES 6.59khz
detectors, such as the XL-PRO, XLT, and any others. I have a 6 1/2
months old XL-PRO, that was kept in the box for 5 months, before being assembled. then is was used for 2hrs. ONLY, when I decided that it was not for me, and now it us up for sale. It is in EXTREME MINT CONDITION!! If interested, e-mail me. Best of luck, whatever you decide. HH.

:whites::cool: Hey, Thanks for the offer. That XL Pro is a great machine from what I hear. But I am using an IDX Pro right now. I have always been curious about the XLTs and that was the reason for my original question. Best Wishes, DF.

On Ebay on the XLT's there all of them have just about 20 or so bids on them that should tell you they are machines that are well sought after. I just recently traded a Xterra30 for one and have no regrets! Hellava great coin picker and depth meter is damn near perfect!!!!!!!

:whites::cool:Hello Barry, Yea I have noticed how high these Whites models are going for on Ebay. Isnt it interesting that the Spectrums, Eagles and Pros are selling so well? And people are paying close to new prices for used? This should send a strong message to Whites about which models have been the most popular. One time will tell. HH from DF:detecting:

I have an XLT and have had it for a number of years, I love this machine. I have found a few gold coins, lots of seateds and other silvers.....I'm a happy camper...
