xlt goes crazy

prc1950

New member
My new XLT-E series while a wonderful mahine, goes crazy every 5- 10 min. with chirping ,whislteling etc., just like i was going over trashy ground.
does it in factory programs as well as mine.
Ground balancing doesnt help and i can even hold the coil over my head,no difference.
If i take the batt. out while the machine is on and wait a min. and fire it back up all is well till next time.
Pre amp setting etc. doesnt seem to make a difference.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Are you turning it on next to power lines ,are you in your yard, cause you did say new XLT and some newbies make a common mistake of stepping out in the front yard and the detector wigs-out because of too much electrical interference. Certainly can't hunt my front yard, have to go in the back. Have you tried it somewhere where conditions are interference free ?

Another thing to check is to make sure your coil wire is not bunched up against the coil.

If its not either one of those, believe it or not could be a bad coil. I just had a new 950 coil go bad after 3 outings, but it wouldn't air or ground balance. Some of my older coils that lost there freq made the detector act like that.
